Interuniversity Fall Hackathon
What can't a student of programming do without? Without practice. What is very important in the hiring process? Experience. What is the most interesting way to gain knowledge? In a great company.
There is nothing better than a "hackathon" to reinforce the knowledge gained in programming. Hackathon (from hacker + marathon) is a forum for developers, during which specialists from different areas of software development (programmers, designers, managers) together solve some problem for a while. Hackathon, dedicated to the creation of applications with the participation of students from different universities, successfully combines all three parameters.
The purpose of the hackathon:
Identifying and encouraging talented, creative students who are proficient in various programming languages such as, Python, Java, S++, etc.
Hackathon objectives:
- Information retrieval, analysis and rapid learning;
- Development of effective and non-standard algorithms and their implementation
- Deep interaction between students of different universities on IT technology.
Prizes and rewards
After summarizing the results, the first three teams with the highest number of points will be awarded prizes.
The prizes will include:
- For "1st place in the hackathon" - Certificate for 1st place and a smartphone;
- For "2nd place in the hackathon" - Certificate for 2nd place and an external hard drive;
- For "3rd place in the hackathon" - Certificate for 3rd place and a Power Bank.
Criteria for participation in the hackathon:
- 2nd, 3rd year students;
- A team of 4 people, both backend and frontend;
- availability of a personal laptop of each hackathon participant;
- Having free time for 24 hours;
- To be able to implement the tasks on the backend as well as on the frontend;
- Knowledge of programming languages, both backend and frontend, as well as the ability to work with relational databases;
Note: Knowledge of programming languages and databases is not limited to certain languages and technologies. Teams can apply a particular programming language or technology at their discretion as long as there is a ready solution to the task at hand.
What application forms should team members submit?
- Name of university;
- Names of team members;
- Team name;
- Contacts detailes of participants;
- A list of skills: programming languages and technologies that each team member knows.
Assessment Criteria:
Each representative of the jury has the right to evaluate a team according to the following criteria:
- The backend component - how well the code is executed, how ready the product is to sell to a potential client. The maximum allowable score is 4 points;
- Frontend component - how well designed, beautiful, modern, and user-friendly is the design of the application/website. The maximum allowable score is 4 points;
- Presentation - How well did the teams perform in trying to sell their product to a potential customer. The maximum allowable score is 2 points.
The team with the highest score wins.
Fee for participation: free of charge
FOOD
Hackathon participants will be provided with refreshments and three meals a day during the hackathon.
HEALTH
Diseases of the fall hackathon participants that require special care during the courses, such as diabetes, allergies, etc. must be reported to the organizers of the hackathon when submitting an application. All necessary medication must be brought with you. Unfortunately, the Fall Hackathon cannot reimburse the cost of doctor's visits if necessary and medication.
